To address the challenges of the new millennium, The 21st Century Schoolhouse is launching Schoolhouse 2000, a theme-based project focusing on health and education as a vehicle for promoting development. Specifically, students within the Schoolhouse will concentrate on background, causes, effects and solutions as they relate to the environment and infectious diseases in each of the participating countries.
The 21st Century Schoolhouse will utilize expertise and resources provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as other organizations and relevant agencies within the United Nations. These partnerships will assist participating schools in setting goals, gathering and analyzing data, establishing specific timelines, and communicating specific results and solutions via the Internet and other forms of public outreach.
Schools representing Argentina, Australia, Botswana, Brazil, India, Israel, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Palestine, Uganda and the United States will participate in Schoolhouse 2000.
